Silver Street Session

Recently, we headed down to Silver Street Studios in Reading for the day to shoot some live studio videos for you, that’s right, you, cos we’re nice like that ;)

Thanks to the help of our manager Rob Bloomfield and his band of merry men we were able to create these live studio videos of ‘Little Games’, ‘Alleyways’ and ‘Park The Car’.

We’ve been giving them to you one by one over the last few weeks as little surprises and we’ve loved your response to them so far

Here they are as a playlist which you can share to all your friends and whatnot. Along with some pictures we took while making them for you to look upon with amazement.

God Is In The TV: Tip Tape for 2013

We’ve been included in the “Tip Tape” for 2013 by God Is In The TV.

They had this to say about us :)

Their only recorded release to date ‘ Little Games’ hints at their commercial potential a gorgeously bittersweet pop song with Jennie’s dulcet vocals offering a strident edge to their alt-pop sound that’s the interesting meeting place between the most commercial cuts of Throwing Muses and the cinematic pop of early Texas. Their live shows hint at an even more dynamic widescreen rock sound to come hinting at the likes of the Pixies and North Walians The Joy Formidable.

Take a look at the full article here.

‘Little Games’ reviewed by Magic Chords

‘Little Games’ has been reviewed by the American music blog Magic Chords

Here’s a nice little quote from it :)

It has almost a “Treefingers” style to it, with lead guitar playing soft little melodies and the rhythm guitar almost just creating ambiance in the background. It makes everything feel airy and kinda spacey, but still has that Best Coast, surf-and-sunshine feel to it.

RUTH BARNES, FRESHONTHENET.CO.UK - “Expect to hear this on a TV show near you soon: Hollyoaks? Lip Service? Could soundtrack an angsty montage brilliantly.”

WE TALK, YOU DIE - “an insistingly catchy debut that resonates on a deeper level than another jangly indie-pop song”

ANOMNOM - “Overlapping, soft yet distorted guitars; a chorus with a mighty hook; tom-boyish vocals; honest lyrics. The Adelines have me on their side!”

‘Little Games’ reviewed by Read. Write. Roar.

Another good review of Little Games, this time from Read. Write. Roar.

Here’s a little snippet of the lovely review:

An almost bittersweet innocence mixed in with the rebelliousness of night time misadventures under the orange glare of street lamps

‘Little Games’ reviewed by Australia’s ‘We Talk, You Die’

‘Little Games’ has been reviewed by Australian music blog We Talk, You Die.

Look at the lovely things they say about us!

The track is a bittersweet coming of age tale, recounted with a spirited frankness that epitimises the Welsh quartet’s sound. Where the tom-boyish vocals of lead singer, Jen, soar aloft over warped pop choruses that recall The Pains of Being Pure At Heart fused with the resonant wall-of-sound guitars of British Sea Power or Deerhunter. The overall result is an insistingly catchy debut that resonates on a deeper level than another jangly indie-pop song and one that we have had on repeat since getting our super disgusting hands on it (seriously guys, our fingernails are gross).

About

The Adelines are a guitar-driven quartet comprising Jennie Morris on vocals and guitar, Anton Dodwell on guitar, Eddie Russell on bass and Ray Thomas on drums. Formed in 2011 and named after their next door neighbour's cat, they cut their teeth playing house parties in Swansea and pricked ears with their tom-boyish vocals, jangly reverb-guitars and warped pop sensibilities.

Their sunshine-drenched songs paint an intimate portrait of coming of age and late night dalliances, combining pop choruses with resonant wall-of-sound guitars and bittersweet lyrics that walk a tightrope between naiveté and spirited frankness. Favourable comparisons have been made variously to Juliana Hatfield, The Vaccines and Throwing Muses - though the band state that they draw their influences "from life".
